Oak Hill is a historic mansion situated on a high bluff with a fabulous view of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains. It’s located just outside of Hudson, NY and was originally built by John Livingston in 1793. You could try to find a more beautiful and serene location for a wedding, but you’d inevitably come up short.
I’ve photographed weddings in the Hudson Valley my whole career, and have certainly seen my fair share of stunning venues, but the feeling of standing at the edge of the Oak Hill property is different. You feel like you’re a stone throws away from the river itself, and like you’re flying above the trees with the layers upon layers of mountains off in the distance.
Oak Hill is stunning in every way.
Courtney and Tyler’s Oak Hill wedding started with Courtney getting ready with her bridesmaids in the barn, and Tyler got ready with his brother nearby at Wm. Farmer and Sons in Hudson. Tyler arrived at Oak Hill and we organized a first look in front of a beautiful old tree on the property. I photographed couple’s portraits on the property and honestly I could’ve shot there all day – there were so many locations to choose from!
The wedding ceremony was at the edge of the property, with sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains off in the distance. Afterwards, guests made their way to the wrap-around porch of the main house for cocktail hour, as the barn was being set up for the wedding reception.
The sun began to set just after the toasts were done, so I stole Courtney and Tyler away for ten minutes of portraits in golden light. Mother Nature was showing off that day, and the sunset was truly awe-inspiring.
Here’s a bit of what I captured that day…
Killin it, Lev! These photos are gorgeous! Beautiful beautiful work!
