The Roxbury Barn wedding of Emma and Sam was one for the books.
The Catskill Mountains are located just a couple of hours North of Brooklyn, but it feels like you’re a world away every time I’m up there. Roxbury Barn is one of my all time favorite venues. It’s got a very unique feel because of the Pine Grove set at the back of the property, but I would compare it to Maple Shade Farm or The Fells for the overall vibe.
The estate dates back to the mid-19th century when a Mississippi River boat captain built his family home on the property, apparently as an identical replica of his sister’s home on the Mississippi River.
Emma and Sam’s Roxbury Barn wedding started with both of them getting ready in separate rooms in the Captain’s house. The wedding ceremony was up the hill from the Captain’s house, in the Pine Grove – one of the most spectacular settings for a wedding ceremony by far!
The Roxbury Barn wedding continued with cocktail hour on Spring Hill, a covered patio on the property. Afterwards, guests made their way back down the hill to the barn for wedding reception.
To add to the locally sourced food and drink, Emma and Sam brought jars of homemade kimchi (their favorite) for guests.
