New York City – Beyond
The River Cafe is located on the banks of the East River in Brooklyn, just below Brooklyn Bridge, and with one of the most tremendous views of the Manhattan skyline in all of New York City. It's a Michelin-starred restaurant so if you're a foodie, look no further than the River Cafe for your wedding. It was the first time I had ever photographed a wedding at The River Cafe, as they had just recently re-opened after being severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
It's exceptional.
I've photographed countless weddings in Brooklyn, and The River Cafe is always a venue I look forward to working in, as it's easily accessible from Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Vinegar Hill, so you've got lots of options for portrait locations within a ten minute walk.
Sara and Steffen's River Cafe wedding day started up in a hotel in Williamsburg, where they got ready and did a first look on the sidewalk. Afterwards, we walked around Williamsburg for couple's portraits and headed to Hotel Delmano, a tiny corner saloon that's been described as " imagine if a young Miss Havisham ran an intimate mixology saloon." After portraits concluded, we walked down to the NY Ferry landing in Williamsburg and took the ferry down to The River Cafe.
The ceremony took place in the garden at the River Cafe, and the escort table incorporated rocks from Montauk for each guest that the couple picked themselves from their weekend home. The wedding reception continued inside the restaurant and there were so many tears of joy shed that I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
Here's a bit of what I captured that day...
